Ma Hongmei is an associate researcher at Asia Centre, Paris. After graduating from Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade with a bachelor degree and Yamaguchi University with a Master degree in Economics, she completed her Ph.D. in economics at Kyoto University in 2003. From 2004 to 2014, she taught Chinese Economy, Asian Economy, as well as International political Economy and Sino-U.S. Relationships at Matsuyama University, Japan. She conducted postdoctoral research in 2003 at the Center for Far Eastern Studies at Toyama University. From 2005, she participated in numerous research projects, in particular the project with Center for Northeast Asian Studies of Tohoku University. (Cross bordering Northeast Asia, 2011-2015), which led her to conduct fieldtrip researches in China and Russia.
Her main research topics are: China’s Foreign Economic Policy, China-Russia Economic Relations, Sino-U.S. Relations, and East Asian Economic Integration.
