Speaker : Narendra Taneja

Last summer, Indian ruling party BJP won the national legislative poll, comforting a second consecutive mandate for Prime Minister Modi : an opportunity to strengthen long-term strategies, and look at new perspectives for the country. Among these, in terms of domestic potential as well as regional and international dynamics, energy plays a key geopolitic role. For the past years, India has been progressively reducing oil imports from Iran, while focusing on new partnerships with Saudi Arabia and Russia ; but also faces regional politics challenges as its integration of the Nuclear Suppliers Group is still facing chinese opposition – an issue heightened by the recent complications in the Kashmir area.

Former journalist, Narendra Taneja is New-Delhi-based expert on national and international energy issues, as well as a thinker and a politician. Having served as South Asia Bureau Chief for European business newspapers, he authored many articles on subjects such as energy policy, energy poverty, empowerment and geopolitics. Currently, in addition to being the Chairman of the Independent Energy Policy Institute and Founder President of the prestigious World Energy Policy Summit (WEPS), Mr. Taneja is the National Spokesperson of the BJP, India’s governing party, and regularly speaks at international universities, think-tanks, governments and companies.
