Since it broke out late in 2013, the crisis in Ukraine has had economic consequences and caused social problems, but for the major global powers the issues it raises are mainly geopolitical. If in many respects the crisis resembles the face-off between the United States and Russia during the Cold War, today’s conflict also has to reckon with China, which is becoming more and more influential on the international scene. What are the possible consequences of the Ukrainian crisis for Chinese foreign policy? Does it call into question China’s stated principle of non-interference?
